The San Jacinto Invitational was created in 2004 to provide an opportunity for local teams to participate in a competitive basketball tournament against out of district opponents.  During its inaugural year, the tournament included 8 teams and 12 games over a two day period.  During its 11 year history the tournament has grown to be one of the biggest and most popular of its type in the Houston area.  In 2016-2017, the San Jacinto Invitational will have grown from having one division with 8 teams to having twelve different divisions with 154 teams from 47 schools in 21 school districts.  The 7th and 8th grade teams will combine to play 298 games of basketball over two weekends.

Southmore Intermediate, Jackson Intermediate, Bondy Intermediate, Queens Intermediate, Deepwater Junior High, Bonnette Junior High, Deer Park Jr. High and Phillips Field House will join the effort in 2016-2017 as co-host of the tournament in order to continue growing toward our ultimate goal of being the largest and best tournament in the Houston area at the intermediate level.
